What the app stores on your Mac

After you choose Start Capturing, QuietPaste reads supported clipboard items while capture is active. History may contain text, URLs, image data, colour values and file paths. It also stores capture timestamps and available source-application information, including the app name, identifier, path and cached icon, to display and filter your history. File entries store references rather than copies of the original files.

History and settings are stored locally. QuietPaste uses the macOS App Sandbox and does not provide its own cloud sync, remote history storage, analytics, advertising or tracking service. Sandbox storage is not a claim that the app separately encrypts your history.

Capture controls and sensitive content

You can pause and resume capture and exclude source applications in Settings. QuietPaste skips content marked confidential or temporary by the source application. These markings are not universal: QuietPaste does not detect private keys or recovery phrases. Pause capture or exclude wallet and password apps before copying secrets.

Retention and deletion

QuietPaste trims history as the app runs, using limits of 30 days, 1,000 entries and 500 MB of stored payloads. You can delete individual entries or use Clear History to remove stored clipboard entries and associated history images. This does not delete original files referenced by entries or clear content already copied to another app. App settings and macOS diagnostic logs are separate from clipboard history.

You can view the storage location in Settings. Backups, disk protection and macOS retention behaviour are controlled by your Mac and backup settings. Clearing history does not remove copies already present in your backups.

Permissions and actions you choose

QuietPaste uses clipboard access for capture and restore. A system file picker lets you choose applications to exclude. Launch at login is optional. Restoring an item places it on the system clipboard, where your destination app can read it when you paste. Opening a link hands the URL to your browser or other registered app; that destination’s privacy practices apply.

Diagnostics and Apple services

QuietPaste writes limited operational events to the local macOS logging system, such as an entry identifier, content type, timestamp and error code. These app log messages do not include the copied text, image data or file path. The app does not upload these logs to a developer-operated service. Apple may process App Store transactions and diagnostics under your Apple settings and Apple’s privacy policy.

Support messages and this website

If you email support, the developer receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. These are used to respond to your request and investigate the reported issue. Please do not include secrets or your full clipboard history. You can request deletion of support correspondence by email, subject to applicable record-retention obligations.

Visiting these web pages is separate from using the Mac app. The website’s hosting provider processes normal connection information, such as your IP address and requested URL, to serve the pages. This policy does not promise that browsing the website produces no server logs.
